Case Studies
Engineering and Distribution Company - Succession Plan
This business has been established for nearly 40 years. It is family run and owned. The owners needed to decide on how the business would operate when they decided to exit. We reviewed the business and looked at all options including, a sale of shares to external buyers, a management buy out plus other forms of succession. In the end through much discussion, exploring many options and looking at the market place in general it was decided to create a succession plan involving existing employees. None of these options are a quick fix. It involves personalities, market forces, what's best for the business, its owners' and employees. All people in the business effectively have a stake. During the course of 18 months we set out objectives, plans of action and an implementation phase to the point now where there is a new management structure in place which gradually releases the owners' day to day involvement. Under these condition the owners still can keep their hand in but in a way which allows them to enjoy retirement whilst preserving an asset with an income but also ensuring the business survives and keeping people in employment.

Commercial Evaluation in the Public Sector.
We are working with several publicly funded organisations to review their commercial operations. We are able to evaluate the 'in-house' business to maximise its efficiency as well as reviewing the viability of separating it out into a full commercial profit making operation. Alongside this we explore increased market opportunities which may be unavailable to the business under the publicly funded umbrella.
